Our Nursery (pre-school)
In our Nursery, we deliver an exceptional nursery education for every child in a nurturing atmosphere, which helps establish the joy of learning and the fun of being challenged as young learners taking their "first steps" into the world of education. Children learn through their play whilst becoming increasingly independent and responsible for themselves, their peers and the environment.
We understand how vitally important children's pre-school years are and we are very proud of the incredible learning opportunities our amazing Nursery provides.
Mrs Oliver, a qualified teacher, leads the nursery with other early years staff trained to a high level to ensure that we deliver quality Early Years education for each and every child.
Being led and managed by Market Weighton Infant School, our nursery brings a wealth of advantages to our children, including wide expertise and dedicated support from our Early Years Foundation Stage team as well as the benefit of shared resources and space. This way we know that parents can be completely satisfied that our nursery education is second to none and helps their child to be ready for starting school.
Children can attend our school nursery from the term after their third birthday which enables them to experience between 3 to 5 terms of nursery education with us before starting school. We can provide up to 18 hours of education per week, including either full days or half-days. Children can either stay for a dinner which is cooked on site or they can bring a packed lunch with them.
All parents and guardians of children aged 3 and 4-years old can use their free 15 hours of free childcare to pay for or towards the sessions. There is a small charge across the lunchtime period to cover staffing.
If you are interested in applying for a nursery place for your child, please contact our school on 01430 873159 or mwis@eastriding.gov.uk. Why not book a visit to see us for yourselves? We look forward to seeing you soon!
We have created an environment in which children want to do things and want to learn. They make guided choices about their activities and learn to concentrate and focus for an increasing length of time. Staff foster confidence and self-esteem. They work very closely with parents and provide advice about how you can help your child to learn.
Staff pay attention to the early identification of any speech, language and behaviour problem, achieving early identification of needs and involve parents in discussion of any significant issues.
Staff give high priority to forming good relationships with each child and setting good working habits from the begining, starting with such skills as sharing, choosing and presevering, always building confidence alongside capability. Language is developed through demonstration, talk and the engagements of adults in play.
"From the moment she stepped through the door, she loved it. She comes home excited telling us all she's done. I believe she's settled in fine and is confident to help others. We were worried she may be unsettled at first but it never bothered her at all. She remained happy and settled and loves staying for lunch".
