Safer Recruitment

  1. The school complies fully with Statutory Guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education Part 3 Safer Recruitment’ and the local authority's (LA's) Safer Recruitment supporting guidance.
  2. The school ensures that it carries out Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks on all staff, Checks on governors and volunteers who are engaged in Regulated Activity are carried out as required by the statutory guidance.
  3. Any staff or volunteer not in regulated activity are continually supervised by staff.
  4. A Single Central Register for all staff, visiting staff, volunteers and governors is maintained using LA & statutory guidance.
  5. The headteacher and at least one Governor complete the appropriate safer recruitment training which is updated every 5 years. All appointment panels will have at least one member who has completed this training in the last 5 years.
  6. All staff are covered by the  ‘Disqualification under the Childcare Act 2006 statutory guidance for local authorities, maintained schools, academies and free schools Aug 2018’. Staff are aware of their responsibilities to disclose any possible matters that need to be considered under this act. If such disclosures are made the headteacher will seek advice from the LA who will liaise with the LADO.
  7. If other organisations provide services or activities on our site, on our behalf, including agency supply staff, we will obtain written assurances that these organisations have appropriate safeguarding, safer recruitment and vetting procedures in place.
