Attendance
Are you thinking of booking a holiday during term-time or do you need to take your child out of school for any other reason? If so, please read the following information first.
What should you do if your child is too ill to attend school?
Please contact the school on the first morning of absence if your child is too ill to attend. If we do not hear from you, the office staff will call you to find out why your child is not in school. If your child has been sick or has diarrhoea, we request that they stay at home for 48 hours after their symptoms have gone. In this way, we can try to prevent the infection spreading to others.
If you suspect your child may have Covid please read this information.
The local authority has produced the leaflet below to help parents make the right choices and to provide guidance on the correct action to take when your child is ill.
Please download the ERYC School Absence Leaflet (it is important that you also please read our additional information which relates to our school)

What are we doing to manage attendance?
The 2023-24 attendance average was 95% which is above the national average. We have several measures in place to improve attendance. These include:
- termly attendance reports for parents
- meetings with parents when their child's absence is causing us concern
- requests to see medical appointment letters if parents take their child out of school for an appointment
- publication of class attendance data on our monthly newsletter
- regular meetings to discuss pupil attendance with our Education Welfare Officer
