Opening & Closing Times

NURSERY TIMES:

Our morning sessions run from 8.45am to 11.45am (3 hours) and our afternoon sessions run from 12.30pm to 3.30pm (3 hours). Up to three full days are available. Children can stay for a hot school dinner or bring a packed lunch. There is a cost to cover staffing across the lunchtime period and to pay for a school lunch if required.

MAIN SCHOOL TIMES: Foundation 2, Year 1 & Year 2

OPENING: Doors open between 8.45am and 8.55am when registration begins. Parents should deliver their child to their class entrance where staff are on duty to meet and greet. Children should not be left unattended on the school grounds or make their own way into school from the street. Please try to arrive on time. Being punctual is a good example to set your child and stops them missing out on early morning activities and routines. If you are late, please report to the main office to sign your child in. Children who arrive by school transport are collected from their bus or taxi by a member of staff.

CLOSING: Parents and carers of Foundation 2 children should collect their child at 3.20pm. Parents and carers of children in Year 1 and Year 2 should collect their child at 3.30pm from the same designated class door. Children will only be released to the designated responsible adult. Please let your child's teacher know if this is someone different or inform the school office on 01430 873159. Children who use school transport are escorted to their bus or car by a member of staff.

Lunchtime for Foundation 2 (Classes 2, 3 & 4) is from 11.45am to 1pm. Lunchtime for Year 1 and  Year 2 is 12pm to 1.15pm. The majority of children stay at school across the lunchtime period and are looked after by our team of midday supervisors.

TOTAL SCHOOL OPENING HOURS: 32.92 hours

In the event of any incident which would require the school to be closed at short notice (eg. adverse weather conditions), we will send you a text message to let you know. The school will never send children home alone. Please inform us of any changes to your mobile phone number.

Dropping off and collecting your child

The care and safety of our pupils is a priority. Please make sure that you bring your child directly to their door so that you know they are safely in. Staff are always posted on the doors at arrival and departure times. The gates onto the school site are locked at 9am once the children are in school. If a child is to be collected for a medical appointment they must be signed out at the office. No child is allowed to leave the school site without being accompanied by a responsible adult.

Please let us know if a different person is picking up your child. Staff will always challenge a person who is unfamiliar to us.

No Smoking

The local authority has a no-smoking policy for the site and grounds.

Walking to School

Walking to school is a great way for children to exercise and helps reduce the amount of cars on the road. Through a variety of promotions throughout the year, we try to encourage more families to walk, scoot or bike to school or to use the Park & Stride at Tesco.  For example, we run a "Be Bright, Be Seen" week, take part in "Fit Fridays" & promote the Park & Stride in conjunction with Tesco.. Hi-viz jackets for children in a variety of colours can be purchased at the school office. We appoint children as Road Safety Officers to help promote safety and well-being on the journey to and from school. We hold the Travel Plan award which is given for our hard work in promoting sustainable travel..

For more information on promoting walking to school with your child, visit  www.livingstreets.org.uk.

Dogs

Parents are asked not to bring dogs onto the school grounds when dropping off and picking up their children.

We respectfully request that they are not left unattended/tethered to the perimeter fencing. This is on the advice of the local authority dog warden. However friendly your dog is, there are hundreds of people passing by at busy drop off and collection times and you may be putting your dog or children at an unnecessary risk. Thank you for your co-operation in this matter.

Teaching children about road safety

We teach children about road safety and actively promote it when we take them out on small trips around the local town. There is a wealth of information available on the Think! Education website which we use during school road safety weeks.
